Message	50 MPH is my absolute lowest MPH for 5th and that better be on flat land or downhill without any need for acceleration. I believe you can get a "feel" as to when the engine wants to be shifted into a higher gear (when stresses are at a minimum...it just feels like the best time)...and for my 94TT that is when it starts to approach 3K rmp. in the lower gears.
